Masterclass Human Rights

Is your company ready to report on its human rights management or are you trying to figure out where to get started? In our  masterclass on October 29 from 10.00 – 12.00 we will guide you through the UNGP Reporting Framework and the basics of the OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) human rights due diligence process. 

As the introduction to the UN Guiding Principles Reporting Framework explains:

‘Enterprises can affect the human rights of their employees and contract workers, their customers, workers in their supply chains, communities around their operations and end users of their products or services. They can have an impact – directly or indirectly – on virtually the entire spectrum of internationally recognized human rights.’

We are proud that two well-known guest speakers in the area of human rights will join us: Irina van der Sluijs, senior adviser human rights at ASN Bank, and Manon Wolfkamp, representing the Dutch MVO Platform.

Irina will provide information on ASN Bank’s approach to human rights due diligence and mitigating these risks. As a financial institution the tool of ‘engagement’ can be successful in nudging investee companies towards more sustainability. ASN Bank’s approach is one that deepens this tool- in focusing on one specific human right (a living wage) for a long term period and in a collaborative way. Irina will explain why the focus on living wage for workers in global garment supply chains is as urgent as ever. And how the ASN Bank’s meaningful engagement can be of support.

Manon will discuss the need the MVO Platform sees for due diligence legislation as part of a smart mix of Responsible Business Conduct policy measures and discuss the latest developments in this area.
