ESG regulations compliance
Know where you stand
The EU is rapidly tightening sustainability requirements for products, packaging, claims, and supply chains. What is a voluntary choice today becomes a condition for placing your product on the market tomorrow. At TOSCA, we help you determine which laws apply to your organization, what they require of you in practice, and how to respond in time and smartly.
Why it matters
A selection of the legislation in force now or coming soon:
- EmpCo Directive (Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition): since September 27, 2026, stricter rules apply to green claims aimed at consumers. Vague claims such as “eco-friendly” without proof, and climate neutrality claims based on carbon offsetting, are no longer allowed.
- EUDR (Deforestation Regulation): companies placing wood, soy, palm oil, cocoa, coffee, rubber, or cattle (products), among others, on the EU market must prove they do not contribute to deforestation, including their exact origin.
- PPWR (Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation): requirements for recyclability, recycled content, reuse, and reducing unnecessary packaging.
- And more on the way, such as CBAM for importers of steel, aluminum, and other goods, the Forced Labour Regulation, the right to repair, and the CSDDD (supply chain due diligence).
Early insight pays off in concrete ways:
- No fines or products barred from the market. You know which requirements apply and when, and avoid a shipment or product line coming to a halt.
- Marketing that holds up. Claims you can substantiate don’t need to be pulled from your packaging and website at the last minute.
- A stronger position with customers. Buyers increasingly ask for origin data and product information. Having it ready keeps you on their supplier list.
- Lower costs. Smarter design and less packaging material save money.
- One approach for multiple laws. Data on origin, materials, and suppliers serves several laws at once, instead of starting over for each one.
How TOSCA helps: Four steps to demonstrable compliance:
- Risk assessment: we map which laws apply to your organization and where you stand today. Think of an audit of your claims, labels, and certifications (EmpCo), your packaging (PPWR), or the origin data of your raw materials (EUDR). You get a clear overview of risks, from high to low, with an owner for each item.
- Action plan and substantiation: we translate the risks into a concrete, implementable action plan with clear priorities. We help you rephrase vague claims and substantiate them with LCA data or third-party certification, for example, and support you in collecting the supplier data you need.
- Internal governance: we set up processes that keep you compliant, such as an approval process for new sustainability claims, fixed owners for data and documentation, and a way to spot new legislation early.
- Team training: awareness sessions make sure marketing, legal, product development, procurement, and sustainability teams know what is and is not allowed, and why.
The result
Clarity on which rules apply to you, an action plan with clear priorities, and claims, products, and supply chains that hold up under regulatory scrutiny and customer questions. How does this work in practice? Read how we helped other organizations.
